GlucaGen HypoKit 1mg

Powder and solvent for administration as solution for injection. It is administered as a subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.

Active ingredient
Glucagon as 1 mg (1 IU) hydrochloride was produced with recombinant DNA in yeast.

Excipients
Lactose monohydrate, water for injections, hydrochloric acid and/or sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment).

1. What is GLUCAGEN HYPOKIT and what is it used for?

GlucaGen Hypokit consists of a sterile white powder glucagon in a vial and a solvent (water for injection) in a disposable syringe. After reconstituting glucagon with solvent, the resulting solution contains 1 mg/ml glucagon.

Glucagon is a natural hormone and has the opposite effect of insulin in the human body. It helps the body to convert glycogen into glucose in the liver. Glucose is then released into the blood.

GlucaGen Hypokit is for immediate use in patients with diabetes who have become unconscious due to severe hypoglycemia (extremely low blood sugar).

2. How to use GlucaGen HypoKit?

Instructions for proper use and dose/frequency of administration:

Always use GlucaGen exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

General dose:

• For adults: Inject all 1 ml, indicated as 1/1 on the syringe.

• For children over 25 kg or over the age of 6-8: Inject all 1 ml, which is indicated as 1/1 on the syringe.

• For children under 25 kg or under 6-8 years: Inject half of the 1 ml (^ ml) indicated as 1/2 on the syringe.

After you respond to treatment (as soon as you can afford to eat), you should be given a light high-sugar food such as candy, biscuits or fruit juice. Because GlucaGen reduces glycogen stores. Sugary snacks will prevent recurrence of hypoglycemia.

What to let your friends, family, caregiver or coworkers know

If you become severely hypoglycemic (extremely low blood sugar) and cannot take sugar by mouth, your doctor may have prescribed GlucaGen so that your friends or relatives can give you the injection. Make sure your family, friends, caregiver or coworkers know the following:

They should know how to use GlucaGen and where it is stored before an emergency occurs.

• They should inject GlucaGen subcutaneously or into a muscle

• After you respond to treatment (as soon as you can eat), you should be given a light high-sugar food such as candy, biscuits or fruit juice.

After using GlucaGen, you or someone else should contact your doctor or a healthcare professional. You may need to find the cause of severe hypoglycemia and learn how to prevent it from happening again.
